BABSON PARK, Fla. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 Mid-South Conference win over Webber International University on the road Friday night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 8-4 (5-0) on the year as Webber fell to 6-3 (3-2).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Derek Negron led the way offensively for the Running Eagles with 10 kills, four digs, an assist, a service ace and a block assist.
•
Allain Larroche totaled 28 assists during the match with seven digs and a kill.
•
Felipe Gonzalez finished with three kills and a team-high three service aces with five digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams battled for the lead throughout the first set, however Webber held a 21-20 lead late in the set. A 5-0 run from Life U was finished on a block from Obrador and Cabana to give the Running Eagles the 25-21 win in set one.
• Webber controlled the second set as the Warriors led throughout to earn the 25-20 win to tie the match at one game apiece.
• The two teams continued to exchange runs in the third set as Webber tied the set at 22. Life U finished the set on a 3-0 run as Cabana recorded the final kill to give the Running Eagles the 25-22 win.
• Set four saw the Running Eagles explode on a 9-2 run in the middle of the set to take a 19-14 lead. A service error handed Life U the 25-20 win in the set as the Running Eagles would win the match three games to one.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Webber in kills 48-40. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .298 as Webber finished with a .135.
• Life U led Webber in blocks 7-5, but the Warriors held an 11-4 advantage in aces over the Running Eagles.
• Webber committed 25 attacking errors as Life U finished with 17.
