Men's Basketball Unable to Keep Up with No. 20 Thomas Moore, 85-52

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The men's basketball team's offense never got off the ground as the team fell short of No. 20 Thomas More, 85-52 in Mid-South Conference action in The Eagles' Nest tonight.

NOTES
• Life U drops to 7-6 (3-6) on the year with the loss, while Thomas More improves to 11-4 (9-4).

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Derrick Cook led all Life U scorers with 12 points to go along with four rebounds and assists.
•  James Moore came just short of a double-double, scoring 11 points and recording nine rebounds.
• Isaiah Hart also broke into double-digit scoring with 10 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U struggled with the Thomas More defense throughout the first half, the team only making six shots from the field during the opening frame. The Running Eagles were the first to put points up on the scoreboard, Derrick Cook cutting into the lane and laying in a shot for the 2-0 lead at the 18:20 mark. The 2-0 lead stood as Life U's only advantage of the first half, as the Saints slowly pulled away. Hart connected on the only made three of the shot inside of two minutes left to pull the score to 28-15.
• Good ball movement early in the second half opened a lane for Danny Lewis to cut to the basket and get a shot in with the score at 21-40 with 16:30 left in the game. Hernandez poked the ball away from a Thomas More player, which he quickly took to the three line and pulled up for a head-on shot to pull the score to 53-25. One of Moore's many tough shots made down low in the post set the score at 71-43 with just under six and a half minutes to play. Hart rocked in a three assisted by Cook with four and a half minutes left, but the game was well and truly out of hand as the Saints went on to win the game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U had a hard time finding its shot on the night, making just 19-for-64 (29.7%) from the field while the Saints shot a high 31-for-51 (60.8%).
• The Running Eagles were outrebounded 38-32,  but did a better job of holding on to the ball as they only turned the ball over 11 times to Thomas Moore's 14.

UP NEXT
• The men's basketball team continues its extended home stay this weekend with a contest versus sixth-ranked Shawnee State Saturday, January 30 at 2 PM.
