Pucnik Surpasses 1,000 Career Kills in Volleyball Sweep over Cumberlands

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The No. 12 nationally ranked Life University women's volleyball team honored junior
Lena Pucnik after the second set for surpassing 1,000 career kills, as the Running Eagles went on to sweep the Patriots from the University of the Cumberlands Friday night in Mid-South Conference Action.
Pucnik continues to be an offensive force for the Running Eagles as the junior totaled nine kills with 14 digs and a block assist. Life U earned the sweep over Cumberlands for the first time in program history at home, 25-17 in the first set, 25-21 in the second set and 25-20 in the third set.Â
Life U dominated the stat sheet leading in every statistical category except blocks where Cumberlands held a 7-3 advantage. Life U tallied 44 kills and a .169 hitting percentage as Cumberlands totaled 22 kills and a .083 hitting percentage. The Running Eagles held an 8-3 advantage in aces, 42-21 in assists and 67-47 in digs.Â
Individually,
Madison Evans added eight kills with a dig and
Marin Black totaled 29 digs with a pair of service aces.
Savannah Keener and
Kennedy Neal added two service aces as
Jessie Prichard totaled 36 assists, five kills, two service aces and a pair of block assists.
Mary Zimmerman totaled three block assists with seven kills as well.Â
The women's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, October 9, when they host the University of Pikeville at 1 PM in the Eagles' Nest on campus.Â
