Women's Soccer Earns Second Conference Win, 3-1, Over Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn. --- The Life University women's soccer program earned its second Mid-South Conference victory in as many games, defeating Freed-Hardeman 3-1 on the road this afternoon behind a pair of Amiyah Robinson goals.

Life University (5-6-0, 2-4-0 MSC) inches closer to being .500 on the season, while Freed-Hardeman (2-9-0, 0-6-0 MSC) is still searching for its first conference victory of the season. Robinson scored twice early in the game, her second standing as the game winner. Her first goal came within moments of missing on a penalty kick, collecting the deflected shot to find the back of the net. Goal number two came just four minutes later when following a header shot by Johanna Altheden that was knocked away by the goal keeper, led to a Robinson goal that was assisted by Jeanne Brigand and Thora Hreggvidsdottir. The Running Eagles completely controlled the momentum through the contest, the lone shot by the Lions creating the team's only goal with less than nine minutes to go in the half. Coming out in the second half with a 2-1 lead still providing pressure, Hreggvidsdottir scored the final goal of the game unassisted in the 55th minute. Life U kept up the pressure, but did not find the back of the net again for a 3-1 victory.

Robinson and Hreggvidsdottir had big games for the Running Eagles, Robinson earning a career best two goals off of four shots with three on goal. Hreggvidsdottir again led the team in shots taken with eight, while also scoring a goal and recording an assist.

The offensive stats were widely lopsided, Life U holding a 29-1 lead in shots taken and 9-0 edge in corner kicks. With the disparity in shots taken, the Lions were the only team to record a save with 12 total on the day. The game was played relatively cleanly with the Running Eagles being handed a couple more fouls at 8-6, while Freed-Hardeman led in cards at 3-2.

Life U returns home for its next contest a Friday, October 15 Mid-South Conference meeting with the University of Pikeville on Senior Day, the game set for a 1 PM kick on the KSU-Marietta intramural field.
