SEWANEE, Tenn. ---- The Life University men and women's swimming teams competed at the Igloo Invitational over the weekend, where the women finished fourth and the men took home fifth.

The women's 200 Freestyle Relay team of Dora Rizinger, Kathryn Bellew, Greta Gonzalez and Nathalia Bento took home third place in a time of 1:44.88 as 15 teams competed in the event. The men's 200 Freestyle Relay team of Bence Dort, Victor Lima, Lucas Payan and Anton Smal also finished third in the event in 1:31.51.

Victoria Acosta earned a second place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.15. Gonzalez finished eighth with a time of 2:28.46. Smal took home second in the 200 IM for the men in 1:57.46 as Trent Dungey (fifth, 2:06.35), Payan (sixth, 2:06.78) and Dort (eighth, 2:12.32) placed in the event.

Reizinger added a ninth place finish in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:47.73. Gustavo Rondon finished eleventh in the event with a time of 5:39.49. In the 100 Breastroke, Sophie Carneiro took second in a time of 1:11.78 as Smal finished fifth in the same event in a time of 1:01.90. Lima also placed tenth in 1:05.98.

In the 200 Backstroke, Reizinger finished fourth in 2:16.46. Bento earned seventh in the 100 Freestyle in a time of 56.67 as Lima finished 14th in 51.88. 

Acosta captured her second runner-up finish of the event in the 200 Butterfly in 2:14.20 as Gonzalez (sixth, 2:30.96) and Lena Stegmann (seventh, 2:31.87) also finished the event. Dungey swam on the men's side and finished fifth in 2:04.24.

The 400 Medley Relay team of Reizinger, Acosta, Gonzalez and Bento took third in 4:16.47 in a field of 12 teams. The men's team of Payan, Lima, Dungey and Smal finished fourth in 3:47.47 in a field of 12 teams. 

The 800 Freestyle Relay team of Gonzalez, Acosta, Bento and Reizinger finished third with a time of 8:25.58. The men's team of Dort, Payan, Rondon and Smal finished fourth in 7:43.07. The women's 200 Medley Relay team of Reizinger, Carneiro, Gonzalez and Bento took fourth in 1:56.68, as the men's team of Payan, Lima, Dungey and Smal took fifth in 1:42.52.

In the 50 Freestyle, Bento took home fourth in 25.18 as Kathryn Bellew earned 16th in 27.91. Reizinger added a fifth place finish to her performance in the 100 Backstroke in 1:02.38 as Payan also finished fifth on the men's side in 55.51. Dort finished just behind him in seventh in 56.54.

Smal earned a fourth place finish in the 200 Freestyle in 1:45.70 as Carneiro picked up her highest placing at second in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:36.93. Stegmann finished the event in sixth with a 2:43.60 time. Gonzalez finished fourth for the women in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:00.95 as Dungey finished ninth in 55.06.

The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Gonzalez, Reizinger, Acosta and Bento earned a third place finish with a time of 3:47.69. The men's team of Smal, Rondon, Payan and Lima finished fifth with a time of 3:24.41.

The swimming teams will return to action on Friday, December 3, when they travel to Savannah, Ga. to compete in the SCAD Invite.
