No. 10 Women's Volleyball Clinch First MSC Title in Road Win

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. ---- The No. 10 nationally ranked Life University women's volleyball team secured its first ever Mid-South Conference regular season title Friday night, as the Running Eagles defeated Thomas More 3-1 on the road to extend the team's win streak to 21 games.

In a highly contested match, the Running Eagles survived the road test with the Saints in four sets. Falling in the first set 25-23, Life U rebounded in the second set with a 25-17 win. Trailing 18-14 late in the third set, Life U rattled off a 6-2 run to tie the set at 20. Thomas More answered with a pair of points, however a 7-3 finish to the set was provided with a block from Furness to give Life U the 27-25 win. The Running Eagles overcame adversity in the fourth set to win the match 25-17.

Life U limited the Saints to just 36 kills and a .035 hitting percentage in the match, however Thomas More held the advantage in service aces 8-5. Both teams combined for 58 attack errors in the match, but the 62 kill performance from the Running Eagles overshadowed the defecit. Life U also led 58-31 in assists and 104-88 in digs, as both teams finished with 10 total blocks. 

Individually, Lena Pucnik totaled a career-high 28 kills in the match with a .323 hitting percentage with 20 digs, two solo blocks and a service ace. Jessie Prichard totaled a match-high 52 assists with a pair of service aces and 19 digs as Marin Black tallied her 19th career game with 30 or more digs and two service aces. Emilee Brown picked up 12 kills and a solo block as Fayola Louis added 10 kills. Kennedy Neal aided the defense with 12 digs as did Madison Evans with 11.

The women's volleyball team will conclude the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 6, as they face Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio at 2:30 PM.
