Women's Lacrosse Defeats Asbury, 19-9, on the Road

WILMORE, Ky. ---- The ninth-ranked Life University women's lacrosse team pulled away in the second half to defeat Asbury University 19-9 on the road this afternoon.

Brianna Freeman matched her season high in goals on the day, coming up big for the Running Eagles by leading all players with seven goals on 14 total shots.
Tina Ricci posted another solid outing with four goals, two ground balls, a caused turnover, and a draw control.
Leanne Windon recorded a career high during the game, taking six draw controls.
Playing a man down the entire game, the game was tightly contested through the early running, Freeman keeping the team in the game with an early hat trick. Despite Freeman's heroics, Asbury continually managed to claw their way back into contention, the teams entering the break tied at 7-7. The second half seemed to be headed the same direction, but after the team took a two goal lead at 11-9, the momentum completely shifted in the Running Eagles' favor. With the lead, Life U switched up their defensive scheme and Asbury could no longer find any room to operate in, the Running Eagles pulling away for the 19-9 victory.
Life U attempted 40 shots on the day to only 15 for Asbury, while obtaining draw control 18 times. The Running Eagles also forced Asbury to commit 17 turnovers.
The women's lacrosse team returns home for its next game, facing conference rival, No. 3 Keiser on Saturday, March 6 at 4 PM in Lupo Family Field.
