Second Quarter Plagues Women's Basketball in Road Loss to Martin Methodist

PULASKI, Tenn. ---- The Life University women's basketball team was overpowered Monday night by Martin Methodist 101-62 on the road in Mid-South Conference action.
NOTES
• Life U falls to 2-11 (0-11) on the year following the loss, while Martin Methodist improves to 5-11 (4-11).

Nyelle Lee also finished in double figures for the Running Eagles with 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Martin Methodist came out of the gates swinging as the Redhawks controlled the pace of the game from the start, leading 25-13 at the end of the first quarter.
• A cold second quarter for the Running Eagles was exploited by the Redhawks as Martin Methodist outscored Life U 20-9 in the second ten minutes to lead 45-22 at the half.
• Martin Methodist kept its foot on the gas pedal with a 37-point third quarter as they led 82-41 heading into the final quarter.
• The Running Eagles outscored the Redhawks 21-19 in the fourth quarter, however the deficit proved to be too much as Martin Methodist went on to win 101-62.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 20-for-54 from the field, 37%, while Martin Methodist shot 34-for-71, 47.9%.
• Life U shot 2-for-12, 16.7%, from beyond the arc and 20-for-25, 80%, from the free-throw line. The Redhawks finished 13-for-29, 44.8%, from distance and 20-for-25, 80%, from the free-throw line.
• Martin Methodist led Life U in rebounds 50-23. The Redhawks also led the Running Eagles in steals 19-7 and blocks 2-0.
