MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The (RV) Life University women's volleyball team split a pair of matchups with top 25 teams Saturday as the Running Eagles fell to No. 23 Lindsey Wilson in the opener and swept No. 25 Reinhardt 3-0 to finish the day.
In the opening game of the day, the Running Eagles were plagued by errors and miscues as they fell 25-16, 25-17 and 25-23. Both teams were relatively even in the box score, as Lindsey Wilson finished with 40 kills to the 37 from Life U. However, Life U committed 19 errors to the nine from Lindsey Wilson and seven service errors to the four from the Blue Raiders.
Individually,
Lena Pucnik added a double-double to her stat line with a match-high 14 kills and 11 digs. She added a service ace and two block assists as again the pair of
Brie Montgomery (19) and
Kennedy Neal (13) led with assists. Neal added a team-high three service aces as
Marin Black totaled 19 digs.Â
In the team box score, Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .153 as Lindsey Wilson finished with a .290. Life U led Lindsey Wilson in aces 6-5 as the Blue Raiders led the Running Eagles in blocks (7-4), assists (35-33) and digs (61-52).Â
Life U came out strong in the second match against No. 25 Reinhardt earning the 3-0 sweep 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20. The Running Eagles were able to execute in the final match of the weekend to earn their 21st win of the season.Â
Pucnik was the only Running Eagle to record double digit kills on another double-double with 10 kills and 16 assists. She added two more service aces to her totals. Montomgery again finished with 19 assists as K. Neal totaled 15. Black added 30 digs.
In the team box score, Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .157 as Reinhardt finished with a .096. Life U led in every statistical category. 39-31 in kills, 8-4 in aces, 7-6 in blocks, 38-28 in assists and 78-70 in digs.Â
The women's volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, March 16, as they welcome Freed-Hardeman University to campus in MSC action at 7 PM.
