Women's Soccer Falls at Shawnee State, 1-0

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio ---- The Life University women's soccer team out shot their opponent on the day, but an early Shawnee State goal spelled a 1-0 loss for the Running Eagles in conference play this afternoon on the road.

NOTES
• Life U's record stands at 4-7-2 (0-7-1) following the loss, while Shawnee State moves on to 7-4 (4-4)

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Despite giving up an early goal, Emily Hounsell played strong in goal, collecting five saves over the course of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Before the second minute of play had ended, Shawnee State found the only goal of the game off the corner. Toby Chow got a shot on frame moments later, but like every other on goal shot attempted during the game, a Shawnee State defender came up with the stop. The Running Eagles kept some pressure on the Bears back line with Allyse Roberts attempting another on goal kick with 2:30 left in the half, but the shot did not connect so Life U went to the break down 1-0.
• The Running Eagles got off a flurry of shots over the first 15 minutes of the second half, and three more shots on goal during the final five minutes of the game to try and extend the game. Life U did not manage to get one of the kicks through, losing 1-0.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Both team's committed seven fouls, but Life U found themselves with more cards at 2-1.
