WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ---- The second Mid-South Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament game of the day set up a revenge match between seventh-ranked Life University and (RV) Marian, the Running Eagles flipping the script Thursday afternoon by defeating the Knights 23-5 nearly two years to the day after losing to Marian by the exact same score in the last conference tournament.
NOTES
• The Running Eagle's victory propels them to the Conference Tournament semifinals with an overall record of 10-5, while the Marian Knights' season ends at 7-7.

Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
• Despite a pair of blisteringly fast goals from Freeman and
Annaliese Froese over the first two minutes, the Running Eagles came out of the gate a touch slow, sitting in a 3-3 tie with the Knights after 10 minutes had passed. Following a Life U timeout at the 20:16 mark, the momentum of the game started shifting back Life U's direction. Three minutes later an Arvizu score opened the floodgates, the team posting nine-straight scores over the next 12 minutes to take complete control of the game. Marian ended the scoring-streak with a goal of their own, but back-to-back Life U goals in a less than 20 second window, pushed the lead to 10 as the game entered running clock. The Running Eagles entered the break, holding a commanding 14-4 advantage.
• The second half saw Life U continue to shore up its lead as the Running Eagles removed any chance for a Marian comeback. The oppressive Life U defense did not allow Marian a single shot over the first 22 minutes of the second half, while Life U's lead grew all the way to 21-4. The Running Eagles gave up a single goal over the second half as the team cruised its way to a 23-5 quarterfinals victory.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• After an incredibly lopsided second half in shots taken, the Running Eagles held a 35 to 16 advantage in shots with 29 of their shots being on goal as opposed to Marian's 11.
• Life U also earned the advantage in clear percentage, completing 16-of-18, while the Knights were 11-of-15.
• The Running Eagles' defense forced Marian into more errors, the Knights having 23 to Life U's 14.
• Ground balls were close with Life U holding an 18-17 advantage, while draw controls played out less so with the Running Eagles taking an 18-11 edge.
• The Running Eagles attempted more free position shots, taking seven to Webber International's two.
