MARIETTA, Ga. ---- Despite another strong game from freshman Thora Hreggvidsdottir, in their first road game of the season, the women's soccer team suffered its first loss, falling to Brewton-Parker 5-2.
NOTES
• The loss sees Life U fall to .500 on the season at 1-1, while Brewton-Parker starts its season 1-0.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Thora Hreggvidsdottir scored both of the Running Eagle goals, while providing the majority of the offensive pressure for the team as well with a team-high six shots and five shots on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was taken out of reach for Life U early, Brewton-Parker going on a scoring blitz as they added three goals in the first 13 minutes of play. After the Barons' run, the Running Eagles defense tightened up till Brewton-Parker scored its fourth goal at 34:26, taking Life U to the break down 4-0.
• Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Hreggvidsdottir finally got the Running Eagles on the board, cutting the score to 4-1. The Barons quickly answered with a goal of their own two minutes later to extend the lead back to four at 5-1. In the 85th minute Hreggvidsdottir struck again, recording the final goal of the game to give the final score of 5-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Brewton-Parker held a small lead in shots taken at 17 to 16, but held a much clearer advantage when it came to shots on goal at 14-8.
• The Running Eagles possessed a sizable lead in saves earned at 9-6, while corner kicks taken was close between the teams, Life U trailing 4-3.
• The teams held steady with each other in regards to fouls received at 11 each, but Brewton-Parker had much more cards with five yellows and one red, while the Running Eagles had no yellows and one red.
