MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's soccer team played (RV) Middle Georgia State tough throughout the game but were unable to find the back of the net, losing the contest 2-0 on the campus of KSU-Marietta Tuesday afternoon.
NOTES
• The loss moves Life U to 3-2, while the Knights improve to 5-2.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Mathilde Sletner played aggressive on the attack for the Running Eagles, taking a game-high four shots with two of them being on goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U held the momentum the majority of the first half, outshooting the Knights 8-4 in the period, but in the 38th minute goal keeper got caught a bit too far outside of the goal as Middle Georgia state capitalized on an open net to score.
Leah McDaid got a good look, trying to tie the game up just a minute later, but it was blocked by a Middle Georgia State defender. The teams went into the break, Life U trailing 1-0.
• The second half started in a similar fashion to the first, the Running Eagles taking four shots through the opening seven minutes. After that point, Life U struggled to get good looks on the attack, Sletner taking the team's next and last shot in the 75th minute. Just six minutes later, Middle Georgia State recorded another goal to give them some breathing room, taking the game by a final of 2-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U recorded more shots than the Knights during the game, taking 14 to their 10, while the teams tied at six shots on goal each. The team's also tied on corner kicks, both kicking five.
• Middle Georgia State held the advantage in saves at 6-4.
•The referees allowed the teams to play for the most part during the game, awarding no cards, while giving the Knights a couple more fouls at 9-6.
