Women's Volleyball Starts Conference Schedule with 3-0 Victory at Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. ---- The (RV) Life University women's volleyball team started its conference schedule on a positive note, defeating Georgetown College on the road in straight sets, 3-0.
 
NOTES
• Life U continued its hot start to the season, improving to 12-1 (1-0 MSC), while Georgetown College finds itself sitting at 2-6 (0-1 MSC).
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
Mary Zimmerman led the Running Eagles on the attack with eight kills on a .286 kill percentage, while also collecting a block assist. 
Marin Black provided a lot for the team defensively and offensively, leading the team with eight digs, while also earning a massive five aces.
Jessie Prichard continued her early season success, tallying 17 assists to go with a single ace.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• The first set played out tightly over the majority of the first set, the teams trading points up till the set stood at a 17-17 tie. Life U took over the set and match from that point, running off eight straight points to win the set, started by a Madison Evans kill and ended 25-17 by one of Black's many service aces.
• Life U continued its momentum in the second set, jumping out to a 6-3 lead after a Zimmerman kill. Georgetown College pulled itself back into contention by scoring five straight, but with the set sitting at a 12-12 tie Zimmerman sparked a 5-0 spree for the Running Eagles. The Running Eagles maintained their advantage, Caitlyn Neal giving the team a 2-0 set advantage by finishing the second set, 25-16, with a service ace.
• Life U went on one of its biggest streaks early in the third set, tallying seven-straight points which included two Black aces to hold an early 11-4 edge. The lead continued to swell to 18-8 as Lena Pucnik helped the team to five-straight with two aces and a couple Tigers errors. The match ended on yet another service ace, this one also coming via C. Neal as the final set ended 25-15.

• The women's volleyball team stays on the road for its next game, meeting conference foe Campbellsville University Thursday, September 9th at 6 PM.
