Women's Wrestling Honors Seniors with Pair of Home Victories

MARIETTA, Ga. --- The Life University women's wrestling program came home for its only home dual competition date of the season, the team honoring its graduating seniors by securing a pair of Mid-South Conference victories over No. 14 Indiana Tech, 30-16, and No. 19 Brewton-Parker, 41-5, Saturday.
Life U (9-0, 3-0 MSC) maintains its perfect dual meet record this year, starting today with a match against an Indiana Tech team that was coming off victories against former No. 1 Campbellsville and then No. 7 University of the Cumberlands. The Running Eagles jumped out to a quick start
Katalina Bartelt tech falling her opponent 10-0 in just 1:21, while
Peyton Prussin pushed the team lead to 8-0 with a 10-0 TF in 0:42. The Warriors wno the next two matches via a decision and a pin to see
Riley Dalrymple take the mat at 130 lbs. with a slight, 9-8 lead. Dalrymple pulled off a dominant upset over the 17th-ranked wrestler in her class in a 12-2 TF that took 3:00. An injury at 136 lbs. gave Indiana Tech a slight lead 14-13, but Life U came back strong,
Angelina Prado starting things with a pin in 0:58 of the 17th-ranked 143 lb., while
Destinee Rivera followed with a 15-4 TF. The Running Eagles ended things on a positive note,
Jordan Nelson winning a 12-1 TF, while
Catherine Palmieri earned a 10-0 TF to give the final score of 30-16.
The Running Eagles match versus No. 19 Brewton-Parker was never in question, Life U only allowing the Barons points in a single match. Bartelt earned a win by forfeit to start the match, while Prussin followed her up with a 10-0 TF earned nearly as fast. In the 116 lbs. match Phillips wrestled up, pinning the No. 16 wrestler in 5:25 in what was a hard fought match. From 123 lbs. through 136, Life U earned straight 10-0 TF,
Paige Denke starting things, while Dalrymple and
Olivia Mottley followed her up to give the team a 26-0 advantage. Prado earned a victory by forfeit, before the Barons took their only match of the dual, a pin in the 155 lbs. class. The dual ended in back-to-back forfeits, seeing the final score of 41-5.

Ashley Flavin after the contest she said, "We are happy to start out our conference regular season with two wins. Tomorrow we go right back to work to get ready for Thursday." She finished saying, "Our team's goal every year on senior night is to win for them. We're grateful for the leadership of our senior class and are excited for a strong finish foor them."
Life U travels to Williamsburg, Ky. Thursday, February 3rd for a pair of Mid-South Conference duals against No. 8 University of the Cumberlands and No. 2 Campbellsville.
