Men’s Basketball Fails to Hold Pace in 90-62 Road Loss at No.13 Georgetown College

Georgetown, Ky. --- The Life University men's basketball team found themselves outgunned on the road at No. 13 Georgetown College in Mid-South Conference play Monday night, losing 90-62.

A Kyonze Chavis three-point shot and a Cam Horton layup in the first two minutes of the game saw Life U (5-15, 2-13 MSC) take both its largest and only lead of the contest. A flurry of shots from Georgetown (19-3, 12-3 MSC) saw them quickly take an 18-point lead, 27-9, at the mid-point of the first half. The Running Eagles made a run at getting back into the game, outscoring the Tigers 18-4 over the next five minutes to pull within a 31-27 deficit, but were never able to get closer. The deficit jumped back to double digits by the end of the half at 40-29.

Not much changed in the trajectory of the game after the break, the second half playing out in a similar manner as the Tigers continued to shoot at an extremely high clip to expand their lead. The Running Eagles hovered around a 30-point deficit the final nine minutes of the game, leading to the final of 90-62.

Freshman Tylan Green was the only player to break into double-digit scoring for the Running Eagles, posting a career night with 12 points and six rebounds.

The Tigers held a massive advantage in shooting percentages, making 55.7% overall compared to the Running Eagles 33.8%, 53.8% from deep compared to Life U's 23.1%, and 88.9% from the charity stripe as opposed to Life U's 66.7%. Play in the paint was relatively close, Life U only trailing in rebounds 41-35 and points in the paint 38-30.

The Running Eagles return home for their next contest, a conference match against Bethel University Thursday, February 3rd at 8 PM.
