Life U. fell behind early, trailing 7-2 before turning it around in set one and closing the gap to 19-17. The Crusaders then rallied four consecutive points to make it set-point, 24-18. The second set again looked promising for Life University as the two teams battled midway through set number two, 14-13. Five consecutive points then fell in favor of the Crusaders as three kills and two aces led the Crusaders to a favorable 19-14 set two lead. The Running Eagles then reeled off an impressive streak to narrow the gap, 22-19, but three WC kills to end the set pushed the Crusaders to a 2-0 set edge.
