THOMASVILLE, GA — The Life University women's basketball team won its fourth straight contest, moving
to 4-1 on the season after defeating the Night Hawks from Thomas University Saturday afternoon 51-35.
Maikya Simmons led the attack with 13 points while Kierra York also recorded a double-double grabbing ten boards and ten points. The Running Eagles outscored the struggling Night Hawks in each quarter, moving to 4-1 on the season.
In the first half, the Running Eagles earned an early lead and never looked back taking a 27-18 score into halftime. Junior guard Kierra York led all scorers at the half with nine points, shooting 2-6 from the field.
In the second half, Maikya Simmons tallied eight points en route to the victory, also grabbing ten boards to record her first double-double of the season.
Both teams forced nine turnovers, but the Running Eagles took a big advantage in terms of bench production, outscoring the Night Hawks 18-9. Fapou Semebene didn't fill up the scoring collum, but the tranfer dominated the stat sheet with 19 boards and 5 blocks as the Running Eagles took the lead in the opening quarter 8-7 and never looking back to route the Night Hawks 51-35.
Up next, the Running Eagles will host the University of Mobile this upcoming Thursday, November 17th, to open the 2022-23 SSAC women's basketball season.
