MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's basketball battled in a loss against the Wolfpack from Loyola, 68-44, Saturday afternoon.

The Running Eagles struggled from the field in the SSAC contest, shooting under 30% from the field with only junior guard Maikya Simmons reaching the double-digit mark.

The deficit began early as the Wolfpack ran out to a 7-0 lead before a Fapou Semembene jumper stopped the early scoring drought two minutes in. Loyola led after the first quarter 24-10, before again limiting Life U to just nine points in the second quarter to lead 41-19 at the half. The Wolfpack then narrowly outscored the Running Eagles in the third quarter 16-14 before the teams both scored eleven in the fourth for the final of 68-44.

As a team, Life U finished just 17-for-64 (26.6%) from the floor and 3-for-17 (17.6%) from behind the arc. The team was 7-for-14 (50%) from the free-throw line as well. The Running Eagles totaled 16 points in the paint and seven bench points with 43 rebounds. The 20 turnovers were costly, as the Wolfpack scored 18 points off turnovers.

Loyola finished 27-for-74 (36.5%) from the floor and 5-for-17 (29.4%) from three. The Wolfpack shot 9-for-16 (56.3%) from the free-throw line and totaled 51 rebounds. They added 34 points in the paint and totaled 13 steals with three blocks.

Individually, Maikya Simmons finished with a team-high eleven points in the game as Fapou Semebene's double-digit scoring run ended. The senior transfer did grab 10 rebounds as she continues to lead the team in that category.

Up next, the Running Eagles will play a pair of exhibition matches over Thanksgiving break.
