MARIETTA, GA. — The Life University men's basketball team was unable to overcome shooting woes in Thursday's contest, falling to the Road Runners from Dalton State 53-48.
In the contest, both teams struggled to hit shots as neither team shot above 35% from the field. The Running Eagles began the game ahead taking a 26-24 lead into the half, but the visiting Road Runners ultimately took advantage of Life University's poor shooting in the win.
With both teams unable to find solid success from the field in the first half, the Running Eagles narrowly took a lead into halftime despite shooting 0-14 from behind the arc. Second-half action saw Life U. find slightly more success from downtown, but it came at an expense as the increase in three-point percentage did not translate into overall percentage as the team struggled much worse from the field missing both contested and uncontested shots.
With all the struggles, three Life U. starters reached the double-digit mark, but as jumpers failed to fall through, the Road Runners ultimately took advantage of Life U's mishaps overpowering the Running Eagles down the stretch in the conference loss.
Up next, the Running Eagles will travel to Talladega, Alabama this upcoming Saturday (Dec. 3) to face the Tornadoes from Talladega College. Tipoff is slated for 3 pm.
