Women's Soccer Unable to Overcome Early Goals, Lose 4-2 to No. 18 SCAD-Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. --- The Life University women's soccer team got started early Sunday morning, finding their offensive rhythm a little too late at No. 18 SCAD-Savannah on their way to a 4-2 loss.

In their second-straight game against a ranked foe, Life U (0-2-1) had a hard time finding their shot, trailing No. 18 SCAD (6-1-0) in shots attempted 17-9, while also falling behind on corner kick opportunities, 4-1. Despite the scores given up, the Running Eagle goal keepers did a good job at stopping most of the Bees' chances, recording seven saves to their two. The referees called SCAD on more fouls, 10-7, while also giving them one more cards at 2-1.

The first score of the game came quickly, the Bees' taking a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute off their first shot of the game. From that point the Life U defense clamped down, only allowing two more first half shots for SCAD, but were unable to find the back of net themselves. The Running Eagles recorded four shots over the first, two of which were on frame, but saw the first half end 1-0.

Again, the half opened with a quick score by SCAD to see the Running Eagles' disadvantage extend to 2-0. A short time later, a red card on Life U forced the Running Eagles' to play a man down for the final 30 minutes of the game. 15 minutes later, another Bees' score made it look like the game had gotten out of hand, but scores in quick succession by Lilja Olafsdottir and Agnes Birta Stefansdottir pulled Life U back into the game, 3-2, with a little over five minutes to play. The Running Eagles did not find their chance to tie the game up, and one more SCAD score gave the final of 4-2.

Life U returns home for its next contest, facing Thomas University Friday, Sept. 16 at 5 PM.
