Women's Soccer Scores Twice in Second Half to Earn 2-1 Win at Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. --- Sacha Millward scored one goal and assisted on another, the Running Eagles puttiing up two second half scores to earn their first road victory on the season, 2-1, at Warner University Wednesday evening.

Life U (2-3-1) held a massive advantage in shots taken over the course of the game against Warner (2-2-3), taking 25 shots to only six for the Royals, while also holding a 15-3 edge in shots on goal. The Running Eagles pressing the attack all game saw them also earn a 7-1 lead in corner kicks. Warner kept themselves in the game by their goal keeper putting together an inspired effort, leading saves 13-2. When it came to the referees, Life U earned more fouls 19-9 and cards 4-2.

The Running Eagles continuously put shots on frame in the first half, eight shots being compiled over the course of the first, but came out of the first 45 minutes without scoring a goal. Life U only allowed a single opportunity to score to the Royals, which Grace Staunton stopped, seeing the half end 0-0.

The second half started quickly for the Running Eagles, Millward earning her first score of the season off a pass from Thora Hreggvidsdottir less than a minute into the half for a 1-0 lead. 12 minutes later Lilja Olafsdottir pushed the lead to 2-0 getting assisted by Millward as Life U looked to take complete control of the game. In the final 10 minutes, Warner finally got on the board after a penalty kick with less than 10 minutes to play, but that was the only score they would post, the game ending 2-1.

The Running Eagles start conference play next, facing (RV) Middle Georgia State on the road Saturday at 1:30 PM.
