Women's Volleyball Records Dominant Victory in Conference Play Against Stillman, 3-0

MARIETTA, Ga. --- The Life University women's volleyball team got back on the right side of the scoreboard this afternoon, dominating Southern States Athletic Conference foe StillmanĀ College from start to finish for the 3-0 victory as the team recorded a season high 12 aces.

After the first point of the game, Life U (6-5, 3-3 SSAC) never trailed Stillman (0-8, 0-7 SSAC) again in large part due to maintaining an excellent .457 attacking percentage over all three sets, while the Tigers struggled on the attack with an average of -.222. All the other statistical categories also went strongly in favor of the Running Eagles, leading 12-2 in aces, 4-1 in blocks, 28-6 in assists, and 23-9 in digs. Chloe Teter and Fayola Louis were the top attack earners for the Running Eagles with nine each, while outside hitter, Lillian Cox, came through big for Life U on the serve with five aces.Ā

The Running Eagles ripped off a 6-0 run early in the opening set to quickly take control of the game, an emphatic kill by Jade Watson seeing the run put the team up by a score of 9-3. The Tigers only recorded five more points from that point, the set coming to a 25-8 end after a TeterĀ kill that was assisted by Kennedy Neal.

The second set nearly played out as a perfect set for Life U, the team only allowing a pair of volleys to go in favor of Stillman. Teter played a huge role in the team's opening 13-0 lead, earning five kills, while all five of Cox's aces on the day came on the following 11-0 run. The set winning score came off the hands of Morgan Furness to end the set at 25-2.

As with the other sets, the third set opened well for the Running Eagles, a 6-0 run that saw a pair of Louis kills pushed Life U to an early 9-2 advantage. The lead expanded to nine after a combo block by Cassidy Lee and Macey Sipmann, 15-6.The teams traded points over the remainder of the set, Life U ending things, 25-14,Ā after a C. Lee kill.
