MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University women's basketball team earned a hard-fought victory Saturday afternoon against Blue Mountain Christian University, topping the Toppers by ten, 66-56. The win marked the first conference win of the calendar year for Life U. and its fourth SSAC victory.
The Running Eagles (11-5, 4-3 SSAC) trailed by a basket early in the contest but took a lead with 2:35 to go in the first quarter and never looked back.
Fapou Semebene was explosive in the first half for the Running Eagles, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven first half rebounds. Life University held a 40-29 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Running Eagles were able to build an 18-point lead with 1:43 to play in the third.
Leading by as many as 17 in the fourth, the Toppers used a late push to close the gap to five before ultimately falling 66-56.
Fapou Semebene continued her hot streak with 19 points and eleven rebounds, Santavia Grant also added 16 points and five rebounds while Maikya Simmons contributed twelve points and four steals.
Up next, Life U. heads to Stillman College on Thursday for an evening showdown at 6:30 p.m.
