MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's basketball team continued its winning streak with a 77-73 victory at home against Point University (Ga.) on Wednesday evening at the Eagles' Nest.
The win improves the Eagles' overall record to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the SSAC.
Point raced out to a fast start in the opening quarter leading 22-10 going into the second quarter. The Running Eagles were not ready to give up yet, as they went on a 13-0 run at the end of the second quarter allowing them to lead for the first time all game.
Going into the second half the Running Eagles never looked back, dominating in possession and taking the victory.
The Running Eagles bench provided strong support on Saturday, scoring 37 of the team's 77 total points. The group was led by Maeisha Teasley, who poured in a career-high 17 points while Laphina Campbell added 15 of her own.
The starting crew was led by 21 points from Maikya Simmons.
Up next, the Running Eagles will be back at home battling Blue Mountain University this coming Saturday, Nov. 18 at 12 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- Campbell's layup in the middle of the third quarter gave Life U the lead and the Skyhawks never led again.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Teasley tallied a career-best 17 points.
- Brionna Simms added eight points to go with eleven rebounds.
- Freshman Campbell added 15 points in 16 minutes.
