MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's basketball team fought back in the third quarter to rally past Blue Mountain University (Miss.) and deliver a 74-63 win at the Eagles' Nest early Saturday afternoon.
The Running Eagles got the better of the Toppers with a 24-16 fourth quarter rally.
Maikya Simmons led Life U with 16 points while freshman Laphina Campbell added 15.
In the first quarter the Toppers started off hot and took charge with a 17-14 lead going into the second quarter.
However, the Running Eagles responded by scoring 17 points in the second quarter as Life U took a 31-28 lead to the locker room.
Both teams kept up the momentum, the Toppers and Running Eagles both delivered 17 points in the third while Life U still led by three points going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was back-and-forth but Life U was able to hold the lead the entire quarter ending the game with an eleven point lead.
Up next, the Running Eagles will be back at home, taking on Brenau University (Ga.) Wednesday Nov. 22nd at 5 p.m.
