FOLEY, Ala. - The Life U women's soccer team saw the 2023 season come to a tough battle Thursday evening in a NAIA National Championship Tournament Quarterfinals loss against #2 Spring Arbor University 2-0.
Life U had only a few chances to get a goal off with only being able to take two shots in the first half. It was a tough defensive battle for the Running Eagles with Grace Staunton making an impressive six saves keeping the score at a 0-0 draw going into the half.
Spring Arbor was able to connect in the middle of the second half putting a goal pass Staunton for the eventual game winner.
The Cougars capitalized with another goal nine minutes later to take a 2-0 lead giving them enough room to take the victory away from the Running Eagles. \
Life U had two shots in the second half with both on frame with Anakah Madril and Lottie Turner registering a shot on goal.
"The result today hurts, but this team and this season has filled me with pride," Head Coach Goddard said. "I am so thankful to all our seniors and wish them the best with what is next in their journey."
Life U ends the season with a 15-5-2 record after making history by making it to the NAIA National Championship Tournament Quarterfinals.
