Men's Basketball Fall to Freed-Hardeman in the Eagles' Nest

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's basketball team fell to the talented Lions from Freed-Hardeman Monday night, losing the top-20 matchup in the Eagles' Nest 72-67.

The Running Eagles were down for most of the contest, trailing to start the half 11-6 as unforced errors and turnovers translated to transition buckets and a five point deficit. Despite trailing for much of the half, the Running Eagles were able to keep the game within five before two Shomik Shahjahan hit two free throws to carry a 33-32 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Running Eagles stormed out to an impressive 42-32 lead, opening the half on a quick 8-0 run. Moments later both teams were knotted at 49 apiece as the two battled with offensive runs and sensational defensive stops to keep the game close.

Trailing by four with just a couple of minutes left in the contest, sophomore Joshua Ward hit both free throws before the Lions pushed the lead to 70-67 with under a minute to go. An unfortunate turnover in the ensuing possession ultimately doomed the Running Eagle in the 72-67 loss.
