MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's basketball team was unable to overcome a strong defensive Brewton-Parker College team in a 73-66 loss on Saturday morning at the Eagles' Nest.
The Barons took control of the contest with a 24-14 advantage in the fourth quarter and held off Life U throughout the second half to take the win.
The loss marks Life U's second loss of the season after it began the season with a 7-1 run. Â
Despite the loss, graduate student Andrea Martin Ruiz started off strong, contributing 12 points and seven rebounds. Coming off the bench Brionna Sims also led the team with 12 points and added three rebounds and Laphina Campbell put up nine points.Â
Sara Viti also was also a powerhouse on the defensive side, scoring seven points and grabbing six rebounds.
The Running Eagles fought back from a three-point deficit in the first quarter to lead 31-30 going into the half.
Life U used a 6-0 run early in the third quarter to grab a lead that helped them keep up the fight, leading 52-49 going into the final quarter.
The Barons played the Running Eagles tough in the fourth quarter going on a 8-0 run towards the end giving enough space for them to secure the win.
Up next, the Running Eagles will travel to University of Tennessee Southern this Thursday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
