WALESKA, Ga. — The Life University men's volleyball team faced a tough RV Reinhardt team Wednesday night, falling in a 3-0 sweep in Waleska, Georgia.
The RV Eagles (15-4, 6-3 AAC), winners of 13 of their last 15 contests, had a dominant performance against the Running Eagles (7-9) who have now lost five consecutive matches. Reinhardt then used a 5-0 run to take a 16-14 lead before the Running Eagles cut it back to 18-17 after a timeout and Diego Martinez kill. Tensions then rose in the arena, and after a couple of cards, a Reinhardt dig turned into a kill moving the scoreline to an unfavorable 22-17 deficit. Two consecutive aces for the Eagles then moved the score to 24-17. A Life University timeout slowed the attack as a RU service error out of the break gave the Running Eagles back the serve. Life U then took a point before Reinhardt ultimately finished the second set with a kill, 25-19.
The second set was ultimately the closest, with the Running Eagles falling 25-12 in the third and final set. In total, Diego Martinez led the attack with eight kills while Nikolas Carrascal returned to the lineup to record 14 assists and five digs.
