Women's Lacrosse Dominates on the Road at St. Thomas, 22-5

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. --- The Life University women's lacrosse team finished off their Florida Sun Conference road trip with a dominating, 22-5, victory over St. Thomas University Saturday afternoon.

Life U (7-2, 2-1 SUN) bounced back from their loss, cruising to their victory over St. Thomas (4-7, 1-2 SUN), Maria Arvizu and Lacy Legaspi leading the way on the offensive side of things with both contributing five goals. Arvizu continued her recent tear of filling the stat sheet, having an assist, six ground balls, five draw controls, and three caused turnovers to go alongside her scoring. Legaspi's scoring saw her break into the 100 goal club, earning an assist to go alongside her scores. The Running Eagles dominated the shot count, leading 51-10, while also holding strong advantages in caused turnovers 11-3 and ground balls 23-14.

The Running Eagles got off to a running start, posting seven goals in the first period. The period saw Legaspi already earn a hat trick, while Lexi Santiago also posted multiple goals. The remaining goals in the first period came from Olivia Andrews and Leanne Windon as the team held a 7-0 edge after 15 minutes of play. The Bobcats found their offense in the second quarter, scoring four goals in the first nine minutes of the period to close the gap to 10-4. The Running Eagles ran off four straight scores of the rest of the half to push the game into running clock. The run saw a pair of Arvizu goals as well as scores by Annaliese Froese and Peyton Sanders as the half ended, Life U on top 14-4.

The Running Eagles cemented the game after coming out of the break, running off five unanswered scores to push the advantage to 19-4. The run saw first scores for Sandra Wright and Annslee Warchol, to go with goals by Froese, Arvizu, and Legaspi. The final quarter started with another Warchol score before St. Thomas found its last score of the contest. Slowing things down on their way to the victory, Jazzlynn Hollerbach and Arvizu recorded goals over the final minutes to give the final score of 22-5.

The Running Eagles return home for their next contest, facing No. 8 Ave Maria on April 1st at 12 PM at Lupo Family Field.
