WINSTON-SALEM, NC. - The Life University men's volleyball team fell in three straight sets to Carolina University on Thursday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Running Eagles fought through a close first set, claiming a 21-19 lead after an assisted block from Diego Martinez and Gracjan Mackowiak. After the block, Carolina University called a timeout and rallied to regain the momentum, winning the first set 25-23. Unfortunately for Life U, that same momentum carried over into the next two sets.

Freshman David Barcan reached double-digit kills with 10 to lead Life U, the Italian also had three block assists in the contest. Nefty Vigo picked up 15 assists in the losing effort.

After battling in the first set and falling, the Running Eagles led in the second set,10-8, before keeping the frame close to a 16-all scoreline. The Running Eagles appeared to have momentum earning a 17-16 lead, however, after a Barcan kill to tie the set at 18 each, the Bruins used a 7-1 run to conclude the set at 25-19.

From there, unlike the first two sets, the Running Eagles never led in the final frame, falling behind early in the third and ultimately losing the final set by the largest margin, 25-17.

The Running Eagles picked up 22 kills in the match, but had 20 attacking errors in what proved to be a tough night on the road.

Up next, the Running Eagles will continue their road trip, resuming Appalachian Athletic Conference play, battling St. Andrews on Friday at 4 p.m.
