Women's Volleyball Drops Hard Fought Matches at Campbellsville Quad

Match 1 Score: Life U 1, Campbellsville 3 

Match 2 Score: Xavier University of Louisiana 3, Life U 2

Campbellsville, Ky. - The Life University women's volleyball team dropped both matches on the day to Campbellsville University (Ky.) and Xavier University of Louisiana (La.) . Both contests were tightly contested.  

MATCH 1: Life U 1, Campbellsville 3

The Running Eagles battled hard to a four-set loss against a vigorous Campbellsville squad. Life U started strong in the opening set and was able to pull away toward the end, winning the set 25-22. After another close set, the Tigers responded in set two by winning the set 25-20. 

Campbellsville continued their drive with a 5-2 run at the beginning of set three. The Running Eagles rallied back to tie the score at ten, but a Tigers run extended their lead and they led the rest of the set to lead 2-1.

With the momentum on their side, Campbellsville raced out to an early lead in the fourth set and never looked back, closing out the match with a 25-12 victory.

Lela Parker and Lena Pucnik both had two blocks and Naomi Eckert Rivera posted 34 assists in the contest.  

MATCH 2: Xavier 3, Life U 2

Against Xavier, the Running Eagles dropped the opening set 25-17.  

Life U answered right back in the second set, battling to a 25-17 win after trailing 6-9 at the beginning of the set.  

During the third set, Life U continued the push after a back-and-forth battle, with freshman Lela Parker ending with a powerful kill to end the set 25-20. The Gold Nuggets fought back with a 25-18 win in the fourth, forcing a fifth set. Xavier eventually secured the win 15-12.
 

Fayola Louis and Lena Pucnik led the attack with 14 kills each. Amanda Ray ended the match with a stellar 20 digs.

Up next, the Running Eagles continue their road trip tomorrow at the Campbellsville Quad against Marian University (Ind.). The contest is set for 12 p.m.
