CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Life University women's volleyball team fell to Marian University Saturday dropping in a 3-0 match to the Knights. The Running Eagles were able to battle in two of the sets, forcing extra points in set two but ultimately fell in three.

In the first set, Life U. fell behind early 13-5, and never recovered falling in the first set 25-14. The Running Eagles then rallied in the second set to earn a lead 9-8 lead after consecutive aces by Lena Pucnik. An ensuing offensive streak by Montreat saw the Knights jump ahead 13-9 before both teams became knotted at 17 apiece.

The second set looked promising down the stretch for Life U as both teams continued to battle through set two. Consecutive points down the stretch then fell in favor of the Knights as a kill, a Life U attacking error, and a service ace gave Marian a favorable 23-22 set two lead. The Running Eagles then tied the set at 24-all before a kill and an attacking error doomed the Running Eagles 26-24.

In the final set, the Running Eagles rallied together to build a 4-0 lead. Big kills by Lela Parker, and Victoria Davenport propelled Life U. ahead, but the Knights were again able to make a run to gain the lead and never look back, 25-20.

The Knights amassed 37 kills to Life University's 30 in the contest. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

— Naomi Eckert Rivera led the team with 23 assists in the contest while Chloe Teter posted eight kills. 

Up next, the Running Eagles will host their conference opener against Middle Georgia on Friday in the Life U Upper Gym.
