Running Eagles Earn Crucial Win over BMCU 72-70

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Life U men's basketball team won its second straight SSAC contest at Blue Mountain Christian University, making use of an overtime period to close out the contest and earn a crucial win.
The Running Eagles and Toppers were inseparable, as neither team were able to create separation both struggling to shoot above 50% from the field for the first 40 minutes before the Running Eagles finally created separation in overtime to come away with the 72-70 win.
Joshua Ward and Dara Olonade led the Running Eagles in double figures, scoring 17 and 16, respectively. Devin Story scored 15 points and Nathan Presnell added eight points and eight rebounds.
Both teams offensive struggles were apparent as the Running Eagles shot 48% while the Toppers shot 44% from the field.
The Running Eagles were eventually able to score points and create separation in overtime as Blue Mountain failed to keep up in overtime eventually losing 72-70.
Up next, Life U will compete against another SSAC opponent, hosting the top-ranked University of Southern University on Saturday, Jan. 31st at 7:30 p.m.
