COCHRAN, Ga. - The Life U women's soccer team used an offensive onslaught to race past Middle Georgia by a 4-0 margin on Wednesday night in Cochran, Ga.
The Running Eagles scored three in the first half and one in the second on their way to a dominant victory to move to 5-0 in SSAC play.
After Life U broke through early on a Marey Helgadottir goal in the 6th minute, the team scored three two goals in the next 23 minutes and built a 4-0 lead by the 62th minute of action.
The Running Eagles were able to break through as a long through ball from Rebecca Noren was tracked down by Helgadottir, who was able to put the ball past the MGA goalie for the only goal Life U needed.
Then, seven minutes later, it was freshman Odalis Tapia who found a crease in Middle Georgia's defense and extended the Life U lead to 2-0.
The Running Eagles were quick to push through again six minutes later with a pass from Gabby Cruzado who found Sienna Strapp in front of the MGA goalie. Strapp was able to put another ball in the back of the net to give Life U a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Finally, in the 62nd minute, the fourth and final goal from the Running Eagles came from freshman Victoria Valles.
Up next, the Running Eagles will host William Carey in a SSAC match up on Oct 11 at 5 p.m.
TURNING POINT:
- First half goals from Helgadottir, Tapia and Strapp put the Running Eagles on their heels as the offense was crisp all night from the Running Eagles.
