MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Life U women's volleyball team traveled to Brewton-Parker College for their second match up of the season falling in four sets to the Barons.
The Running Eagles were able to take a win in the first set 25-18. However, BPC took control of the second set and continued to dominate to win the next three to win 3-1.Â
Freshman Elisa Fries led the Running Eagles again with 11 kills while Alexandra Scheele pitched in eight kills with a .636 hitting percentage.
Life U jumped out to an early lead in the first set with a 6-2 edge and led the rest of the way. Three kills from the Running Eagles at the end led to the set win 25-18. Â
The second set was back-and-forth throughout, but with the score tied at 24 apiece to push the set into extra points, but three attack errors at the end secured a second set / win for the Barons 28-26.
The Barons came out hot in the third set leading 6-1 and never looked back winning the set 25-18.Â
From there, it was all the Barons, who trailed 9-5 but then went on a 9-0 run to leave all doubt behind winning the set 25-20.Â
Up next, the Running Eagles will return home to take on the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist Friday at 6 pm.Â
TURNING POINT:
- After it looked like momentum had swung Life U's way, the Barons turned it right back with a dominant three set win.Â
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Fries led the Running Eagles with 11 kills.
- Chloe Teter added ten kills, while Destiny Drakeford added three blocks.
