MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life University men's soccer team dropped its final home SSAC contest of the season to the Roadrunners of Dalton State Thursday evening. The Running Eagles offense was held scoreless for 90 minutes while a late goal led to a Dalton victory.
In the first 45, Life U held a narrow 7-3Â shot lead over the Roadrunners. However, neither team would score as both defenses held a tight well to keep both teams scoreless going into the break.Â
The second half continued to be back and forth until in the 77th Roadrunners broke through to bring the score to 1-0.Â
Life U had limited chances to respond in the second half, posting just three shots in the second 45.
The Running Eagles continued to fight through but were unable to persevere, falling 1-0 to the Roadrunners.Â
"Not the result we wanted but we did show we can play with the best. Our young team showed a lot of promise tonight," Head Coach Pama stated. "We think a tie would have been a fair result but kudos to Dalton for pulling it out. We knew they were very good in set pieces and tonight proved that once again. We had some incredible chances to win it ourselves, but such is football sometimes. One regular season game left and then we are getting ready for postseason play. A special thanks to our fans who tonight again were magnificent."
Up next, Life U will head down to Brewton-Parker to take on the Barons on Monday October 28th at 3:30 pm.Â
