MARIETTA, GA. - In a step outside conference play, the Life University women's volleyball team was unable to find success in a 3-0 loss at home Friday evening. The Pioneers have won two out of the three times they have met this season.
Life U would go on a 8-2 run before the Pioneers would go on a 6-0 run to bring the score to 8-8. After both teams battled back and forth SMC would break away to win the first set 25-19. The Pioneers took the opening set, but Life U challenged in the second as it was pushed to extra points until SMC would win 31-29.
Spartanburg Methodist would take the final set for the match as they totaled 33 kills to Life U's 31 in a tightly contested battle.
Up next, Life U will host Talladega College Friday November 1st at 1 pm in the Upper Gym.
TURNING POINT:
--SMC took the match in three sets but Life U was within striking distance in the first two sets.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Gabriela Rivera accounted for 21 of Life U's 32 assists in the three-setter.
--Imana Ellis and Elisa Fries both totaled eight kills, as well as both added three blocks.
