Women's Volleyball Drops Friday Home Match to Tornadoes

MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's volleyball team hosted Talladega College Friday afternoon at home, falling in four sets to the Tornadoes.

After the Tornadoes pulled away in the first set, the Running Eagles rallied from down in the second set to win 25-16. Both teams would go in for a battle in the third until Talladega snagged the set after extra points.  

Life U was leading 9-5 early in the fourth set, until Talldega took control and never looked back on its way to a dominant 25-21 fourth set win. 

Senior Chloe Teter led the Running Eagles with 13 kills while Erica Irby pitched in 12 kills. 

Tallldega jumped out to an early lead in the first set with a 6-2 edge going on to lead the rest of the set winning the first set 25-17. 

Talladega jumped out to an early lead in the first set with a 5-3 edge. However, the Running Eagles rallied with four straight points to take a 7-5 lead and they never trailed the rest of the set winning the set 25-16.

The third set was back-and-forth throughout with Life U leading 24-21 until the Running Eagles allowed the Tornadoes to win five straight points and were put away at 26-24.

However, from there, the Running Eagles would surrender their 11-10 lead with the Tornadoes going on an 8-0 run to leave all doubt winning the fourth set 25-21. 

Up next, the Running Eagles will host Faulkner University in the Upper Gym at 2 p.m. for Senior Day where three seniors will be recognized. 

TURNING POINT:

- After it looked like momentum had swung Life U's way, the Tornadoes turned it right back with a dominant third and fourth set win to clinch the match.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

- Chloe Teter led the Running Eagles with 13 kills.

- Gianna Devarenne paced the team with 13 digs while Gabriela Rivera led with 35 assists.
