SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Life University men's and women's swim team competed in their first regular season meet of the year at the Sewanee Relay Meet this Saturday.
With many other teams in attendance, the men's team was able to make a top three finish in the fourth event coming in second place in the 200 Yard Backstroke Relay. The team consisted of Bence Dort, Bence Meresz, Pablo Serra, and Rasmus Petersen who came right behind Emmanuel in less than a second difference (1:38.62).
Later on in the event, Mate Dort, Bence Dort, and Pablo Serra finished third in the 3x500 Yard Freestyle Relay (15:27.26) and shortly after Tyron Klynhans, Meresz, Serra, and Petersen finished in third (3:46.84) in the 4x100 IM Relay.
The men's team continued to dominate in the relays finishing in third place again in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with Meresz, Petersen, Klynhans, and Thomas Williams finishing with a time of 1:29.95 finishing right behind University of Montevallo within less than a second.
In the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly Relay, Elisa Gross, Terangimarie Moanaroa, Kendall Ashburn, and Seema Chavis finished in third place only being short by a finger tip to Montevallo with a time of 1:53.18.
Overall, the men came in third place out of six teams with a total of 74 points and for the women came in fifth out of seven teams with a total of 48 points.
Both teams finished with a combined 14 top five finishes in the relays.
"It was a great first meet of the season," said Head Coach Tom Keer. "We swam a ton of events today in a short amount of time. Overall, it was great racing all around!"
Up next, the Running Eagles will travel to New Orleans to take on Loyola University of New Orleans Saturday, October 19.
