MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's volleyball team earned a clean sweep at home in conference play Saturday afternoon against UT Southern.
The Running Eagles jumped out to a hot start taking the first set to set the tone. Life U led 8-3, but UTS clawed back taking the lead 10-9. From there, Life U went on to snag the first set 25-20.
Life U trailed 4-2 in the second set but went on a 6-0 run to give enough room to secure a 25-17 win.
In the third set, the Firehawks stayed within striking distance but were unable to close the gap in a 25-23 win for the Running Eagles.
The win marks the fith win in SSAC play as the Running Eagles sit at 5-3 in conference.
In the win, Life U posted a .298 attacking percentage to UTS .152 percentage.
Up next, the Running Eagles travels to Truett McConnell University to take on Columbia and the on Oct 12.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Erica Irby led the Running Eagles with 15 kills, tying her season best.
--Chloe Teter led Life U with 15 digs and also added ten kills.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
--Life U totaled 51 kills to UT Southern's 30.
