MARIETTA, Ga. - In a game that was tied with less than five minutes to play, the Life U men's basketball team came away with a win at the Eagles' Nest 100-96. The Running Eagles were able to close it out in the final minutes.
The Running Eagles took an early lead in the game, but the Pioneers kept the game close. It was not until the 11th minute that the pioneers took the lead for the first time in the game. However, Life U quickly took back the possession to extend the lead once again.
At the break, Life U led by three with energy going into the second half.
In the second half, it became a tight contest with the Pioneers making their gap smaller, eventually catching up with Life U, but with the Life U push at the end they were able to secure the win.
Tyreke Johnson made one three-pointer with under one minute to go to put the Running Eagles out in front and Elias Ramirez added two from the free throw line to close out the contest.
The Life U defense held tough, denying the Pioneers on their final two possessions. Life U left no opportunities in the finals two minutes as they went on a 7-0 run to end the contest.
Up next, Life U will play the first game in the Southern States Conference facing Dalton State College at home Thursday Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
--Dara Olonade led the Running Eagles with 10 rebounds going 6-for-6 from field goal range.
--Chaze Harris led the team with 26 points and 12 assists and added eight rebounds.
--Tyreke Johnson added 20 points and five rebounds while Ladarron Cleveland added 18 points.
