Women's Basketball Earns Home Win over Truett McConnell

MARIETTA, GA – The Life University women's basketball team put on a stellar defensive performance Tuesday night at the Eagles' Nest, securing a 55-46 win over Truett McConnell. With the win, Life U improves to 3-2 on the season.

From the opening tip, Life University came out strong, fueled by an aggressive defensive effort that set the tone early. The Running Eagles jumped to an early lead, outscoring the Bears 16-5 in the first quarter, with Aniyah Offutt leading the way with a game-high 13 points.

Despite a tough second quarter where Truett McConnell clawed back, the Running Eagles held on to a 32-26 advantage at halftime. Brionna Sims was a force in the paint, finishing with 10 points and 6 rebounds, while Kaci Scott dominated the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds and adding 4 points.

The third quarter saw Life University's defense step up once again, holding the Bears to just 4 points in the period. Kenya Robinson recorded a timely block, and Maikya Simmons added defensive pressure that resulted in multiple turnovers and fast-break opportunities. The Running Eagles held their composure through the fourth quarter, where they sealed the game with clutch free throws, finishing 90.9% from the line.

The Running Eagles saw 12 points come from the bench as eleven different players received playing time. Kaci Scott and Maikya Simmons provided critical free throws in crunch time to hold off Truett McConnell's late-game push.

Overall, the Running Eagles forced 17 turnovers which translated to key possessions, but the main difference was the team's second chance points where they held an 18-10 point advantage.

Up next, the Running Eagles open SSAC play this weekend hosting Mobile on Saturday in the Eagles' Nest.
