Men's Basketball Picks Up Win over Southeastern

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University men's basketball team secured their third win of the early season Saturday afternoon, gaining and holding on to a lead in the second half and outlasting Southeastern to conclude the Kenwood Memorial Classic.

The Running Eagles were led in scoring by Chaze Harris, with 29 points. Cortez Johnson was also impactful recording a dominant doule-double while Dora Olonade came off the bench to score 13 points and grab nine boards.

Trailing in the first half by as many as 14, the Running Eagles found more success in the second half, by limiting turnovers and making use of points in the paint. The Running Eagles were outscored in bench production 37 to 21 off the bench but made use of points in the paint to keep the contest close.

The second half run was fueled by a quick 5-0 spurt to begin the second half, but it was a combination of players who ended up being the difference in the win. Four Running Eagles reached double digits, marking the third straight time this season that more than four players reached the double digit mark.

Overall, the Running Eagles held an advantage in field goal percentage and three point percentage as they outscored Southeastern 48-27 in the second half.

Up next, the Running Eagles continue their home streak hosting Truett-McConnell this upcoming Thursday at 7pm.
