MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U women's basketball team hosted Tennessee Wesleyan in their first home game of the season and cruised past the Bulldogs 68-63 on Saturday afternoon.
The win marked the team's second win of the season and first at home.Â
Life U trailed at the start and from that point forward it became a battle to the end of the first quarter, but the Running Eagles ended up leading 23-19 at the end of the quarter.Â
Overall, seven different Running Eagles found points in the box score as ten players saw action.
Four Running Eagles were in double figures with 19 points from Kenya Robinson and tallied 16 rebounds, while graduate student Maikya Simmons was excelling from the field, scoring 15 points and adding seven rebounds and six steals. Aniyah Offutt was also in double digits with 13 points and Brionna Sims tallied 12 points.Â
Life U took a 38-32 lead into the locker room after a tough first and second quarter. Both teams did battle to the end with a 17 point offensive explosion from both in the fourth quarter, but the Running Eagles lead was too much to overcome in the five-point victory.
Up next, the Running Eagles will travel up the road to Reinhardt University November 9th at 2 pm.Â
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- Robinson played a solid all around game, scoring 19 points with 16 rebounds.
- Simmons also tallied 15 points and added seven rebounds, two assists and six steals.
