MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team drops Point University in a 3-1 victory behind a career-best night from Chloe Teter leading the team with 22 kills.
The Running Eagles got off to a show start trailing in set one, but the team battled their way back with a five point rally to come back and win the set 25-23. The second set again fell in Life U's favor, as the Running Eagles pulled away after claiming six of the final eight points. The third was narrowly won by Point, but the Running Eagles took no chance, closing the match in four sets.
Leading in nearly every statistical category, the Running Eagles outpace the Skyhawks all night. Point tabbed 66 kills and a .238 hitting percentage while the Running Eagles totaled 73 kills and a .252 hitting percentage. Life U also led 14-12 in service aces as Rachel Irby hit a hot streak with three consecutive aces in the 2nd set alone.
Individually, Chloe Teter's career night paced the offense for Life U with 22 kills and an impressive .439 hitting percentage. She also added two aces and 12 digs in the performance. Rachel Irby finished behind her with 11 kills, 13 digs and five service aces. Victoria Davenport also served well with six service aces. Gabriella Rivera and Isabella Hanchi combined for 43 assists in the 6-2 system.
The women's volleyball team will return to action on next weekend as they travel to compete in the annual SSAC tournament in Montgomery, Ala.
