Women's Basketball Falls to UT Southern in SSAC Clash

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's basketball team faced a challenging opponent in Tennessee Southern Saturday afternoon, falling 88-63 in the Eagles' Nest. Despite strong individual efforts, the Running Eagles struggled to keep pace with Tennessee Southern's efficient shooting and defense.

The game opened with Tennessee Southern taking an early lead, outscoring Life 21-11 in the first quarter. The visitors maintained their momentum in the second quarter, building a 30-19 run that extended their halftime lead to 51-30. Life had difficulty containing Tennessee Southern's Daysha Reid and Ashley Dickey, who combined for 53 points.

In the second half, Life University showed resilience, outscoring Tennessee Southern 21-18 in the third quarter. Aniyah Offutt led the Running Eagles with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including five made free throws. Kenya Robinson contributed 12 points and six rebounds, while Kaden McCorvey added 10 points on perfect shooting from the field (5-of-5). Despite their efforts, Tennessee Southern's strong fourth quarter solidified their victory.

Tennessee Southern finished the game shooting 53.3% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc. They also out-rebounded Life 33-34, led by Lauren Smith and Emaleigh Tarpley. Life struggled from long range, hitting only 13.3% of their three-point attempts (2-of-15), and committed 24 turnovers that Tennessee Southern converted into 27 points.

Daysha Reid led Tennessee Southern with 23 points, while Ashley Dickey added 30 points, seven rebounds, and three three-pointers. Lauren Smith contributed 15 points and four rebounds, rounding out their balanced attack.

Life University's record now stands at 8-9 overall and 3-3 in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
