MARIETTA, Ga. - The Life U men's basketball team overcome SSAC opponent Loyola in a 71-63 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolf Pack took early control of the beginning of the contest, jumping ahead to a 10-0 advantage in the first half and held off Life U throughout the opening 20 minutes carrying a 31-25 lead into halftime.
The second half was a different story though as transfer guard Elias Ramirez led the team, contributing 16 points in the second half alone. Not to be outdone, Joshua Ward and Dara Olonade both reached double digits in the second half.
In the second half, the Running Eagles continued to fight back, cutting the deficit to three at one point before the Wolfpack again had an answer. The eventual breakthrough came through with seven minutes to play as a running three-pointer from the hot-handed Elias Ramirez knotted the game at 54 each.
Life U then got a stop on the other end before Dara Olonade's layup underneath provided the game's only lead change, 56-54. After earning the lead, the Running Eagles' kept the advantage to squeeze out a much-needed 71-63 conference win.
Up next, the Running Eagles will travel to Mobile, Alabama next Thursday, Feb.15 for a contest at 8:30 PM.
