Men's Volleyball Takes Down Warner in AAC Action

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Despite a slow start that saw Warner take the first set, the Life U men's volleyball team claimed a 3-1 win on the road against Warner University Friday night in an AAC match up. 

It was an impressive night for David Barcan who totaled 14 kills for the Running Eagles. Freshman Jeremy Ferreria was also in double figures with 12 kills. 

Carlos Pinto led the Running Eagles and hit a career-high with 39 assists. Alexis Prado led Life U with 15 digs while Barcan had five service aces. 

The Royals were able to manage 11 blocks to Life U's nine, but only posted five service  aces to the Running Eagles 11.

The Royals raced out from the beginning and ran away with the first set 25-18. The second set saw Warner continue to keep pace for a time before Life U used a late run to create space and end the set with a win 26-24 on a Barcan service ace.

In the third set, Life U came out to lead early and never looked back from there, leading the entire set ending 25-18 to push a fourth set.

Despite trailing 10-4, Life U was able to make it a battle down the stretch and go on a 6-0 run to catch up to Warner. The Running Eagle closed it out 25-21 to seal the 3-1 win. 

Up next, the Running Eagles continue the road trip by making their way to Webber International University (Fla.) tomorrow in conference action at 11 am. 

TURNING POINT:

--After dropping the opening set, Life U was able to bounce back and leave no doubt. 

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:

--David Barcan tallied 14 kills as Life U totaled 45 in the match. 

--Carlos Pinto put up a career-high of 39 assists.
